About us
What makes the Danish Church in Newcastle special to its members and the wider community?
We ARE Newcastle's Danish Church. It all started over 100 years ago with "Johanneskirken" - St John's Church - in Maple Terrace (between Westmorland Road and Scotswood Road)
These days we have no building: we are a community. We meet for services, usually in the Martin Luther Church in Shieldfield, and we meet for companionship. The two can be separate.
We are traditional: we light real candles, also on the christmas tree. But we are also modern: we know Danes are replacing wax candles with electric ones, to prevent spreading particulates.
Are core values are those of the Danish Folkekirke, And ygge, community, calm, thoughtfulness. We also wait and see what YOU will bring.
